Lakeside Oral Surgery & Dental Implants
A Step Beyond A Normal X-Ray
When it comes to oral surgery you truly do need the most high tech imaging equipment you can find in order to best serve your patients. What are the benefits for using high tech imaging?
Your face has an expansive system of nerves throughout it. The Zygomatic branch of your facial nerves runs above your eyes and proceeds to branch towards your temples and under your eyes. The Buccal branch of facial nerves is what gives you feeling in your gums. Down around your chin is where your inferior aveolar nerve is found; this nerve carries large importance. This nerve is responsible for the feeling in your the chin, lower jaw, lower teeth, and lower lip.
If you’re wondering why I’m going on about this lets talk about what goes on in oral surgery. In some cases a tooth needs removed and the tooth could be buried into the jaw bone. If the tooth is impacted in mandible (lower jaw) then there is always a chance it is near a nerve. This is exactly why we invest so heavily into great technology.
With our imaging technology we are able to take extremely high resolution 3D images of an patients jaw and mouth. These images allow us to know exactly where the nerve is located and from there Dr. Haynie is able to decide his course of action and draw up a treatment plan based on his findings.
The CS9300 allows us to take high quality looks inside our patients mouths to ensure them the best experience.
We want the absolute best care possible for our patients. By using the CS 9300 Imaging the doctor can look at your bones and determine the overall health of the bone surrounding your teeth as well as knowing where your facial nerves are in comparison to your teeth.
In a situation like this some people would want to opt for a dental implant. The doctor would use an image like this to determine the depth of the bone in the site of the implant. Our CS9300 uses cone beam CT technology to give us a more accurate picture and it also greatly reduces the patients exposure to radiation. These high quality images are one of the reasons our patients see such great results.
If you or a loved has any questions in regards to services we offer, scheduling or even just curious on the equipment we have in the office don’t hesitate to give us a call or click Schedule An Appointment from our homepage and get yourself in to see some of the amazing technology for yourself!
Providing a Genuine Experience
At Lakeside we put a lot of emphasis on providing the best care for our patients. This all starts from the first moment we speak with you; whether it’s over the phone or maybe you’ve walked into our office to turn in a referral from your dentist. Our front office staff always greet everyone with a warm smile and a friendly welcome.
We are constantly evaluating ourselves and working with the feedback we receive and then turning it into an action plan. Like other top notch offices we invest heavily in training and we track everything. One of the biggest indicators of how well we are doing is from our online reviews.
I’m sure we can all admit to using reviews as a deciding factor when opting for a treatment, choosing a restaurant, or even buying treats for our pets. Reviews act as our first virtual step in the door. Knowing this we have made it a normalcy to ask for reviews from our patients and especially those that overcame some significant hurdles to get their treatment. These hurdles could be any number of factors.
For some patients time is the most difficult factor. Finding time for your appointments can be an arduous task for some but we have an amazing team that can work with you and your busy schedule to make sure you’re taken care of.
Let’s hope you don’t find yourself in the same state of dismay as this poor fellow.
Finances can also be a barrier for many people seeking treatment. Our Benefits Coordinator works hard to make sure that our patients maximize their insurance benefits by doing a complimentary benefit check before the initial appointment. Don’t have insurance? Our Benefit Coordinator can also work with you to find the best payment option for your care.
Knowing that the treatment they once thought was out of reach is now feasible leads to our patients feeling much more at ease.
Along with the previously mentioned factors we all know a handful of people that aren’t fond of being in a dental office. Rest assure that your Lakeside Team is there for you from the second you step into our door and we are always going above and beyond to provide the best experience no matter the situation.
We are always looking for ways to serve our patients. Reviews are one of the easiest ways for us to know how we are doing. They let us know which portions of the new patient experience are going the smoothest and also provide us with new insights. We encourage everyone to share their stories for anywhere they choose to have treatment performed. Your opinion could be the exact words someone was looking for to finally make the move on achieving the smile they’ve wanted.
Why we love where we live
Coeur d’Alene is home for many people. Dr. Haynie and his family chose this area as home for a number of reasons; the close proximity to a major airport, a reasonable drive to his home state of Utah, a temple in the area, and he and his family found the area to be beautiful. On the first day of moving to the state his eldest son asked,
“Dad do we really get to live here?”
If there’s one thing we love as much as the beautiful area we live it’s the amazing stories we are treated with when interacting with our patients. Coeur d’Alene has an amazing history and many of the people here have longstanding and interesting relationships with the city and the surrounding areas. Next time you’re in our office and one of us strikes up a conversation with you just know that we do it because we truly care and want to get to know you so that we are better equipped to give you the best experience possible.

I had a tooth joke for you. But I lost it.
The trauma of loosing, or missing, a tooth often leaves people frozen in a panic, followed by fear of a ruined smile. According to the American Academy of Implant Dentistry it has been estimated that 69 percent of Americans, age 35 to 44, have at least one missing tooth, and one in four over the age of 74 have lost ALL of their natural teeth. This is meant to put you at ease if you fall within one of these groups. You’re not alone in this matter and it isn’t the end of the world or your beautiful smile.
Here’s an interesting statistic for you from the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research. Adults age 20 to 64 have an average of 24.92 remaining teeth. After having your wisdom teeth removed you are left with 28 teeth so that statistic is saying that the average adult is missing at least 3 teeth.
The thought of missing a tooth may seem like a nightmare to many but it’s not something you simply have to deal with. Whether you were born with a missing tooth or if you lost a tooth due to an accident it is truly no different for our office as Dr. Haynie and our wonderful staff here at Lakeside would be more than happy to talk with you about a dental implant. Implants look completely real and will last as long as you do. We even utilize a X-Nav to help for the most accurate placement of the dental implant. Because of this and our highly skilled Surgeon Dr. Haynie we are absolutely positive that we can restore your smile to its original glory so you can gift those around you by showing you’re wonderful smile. Call or email us today and find out about implants for you or a loved one!
Should I have my Wisdom Teeth removed?
When it comes to wisdom teeth the general populace seems to be fairly torn in regards to whether the teeth truly do need to be removed. Through human development it has been shown that our mouths have become smaller and most people find a great deal of discomfort and sometimes pain when their wisdom teeth are growing in.
Northwest Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Texas had this to say about wisdom teeth.
Occasionally, wisdom teeth will erupt with absolutely no pain, issues or cause for concern. Others will experience unpleasant symptoms and will want or need to have their wisdom teeth extracted. How do you know?
- Pain in the jawbone
- Pain that radiates from ear, jaw and head
- Tooth pain caused by wisdom teeth growing sideways and putting pressure on adjacent teeth
- Swelling and inflammation indicating infection
- Sensitivity in the third molar that might be caused by cavities
- Bad breath which may indicate infection
- Bad breath caused by inability to clean and floss properly
- Sinus pain and pressure caused by third molars pressing up against the sinuses
- Shifting teeth
- Formation of cysts around the third molar
Now you may be saying to yourself ‘I’m not experiencing any of those so I must be in the clear!’. While you may not be in pain at the moment it’s always recommended to get them removed so you don’t experience any of these symptoms in the future.
Dentists and oral surgeons have special categories for the wisdom teeth based on the way they have grown in and will base their recommended treatment plans on the state of the teeth. With our state-of-the-art imaging technology we are able to quickly and easily diagnose the state of the wisdom teeth in our patients mouths’ and recommend the best course of action. If you or a loved one are thinking about getting your wisdom teeth removed don’t hesitate to call us or swing by our office and reserve your time to speak with Dr. Haynie and determine whats best for your oral health and overall well being.
